Process

A high-level project timeline was defined to scaffold time allocations for this 48 hour hackathon.

As we were given 48 hours for this hackathon, efficient time allocation and realistic project scoping was critical in order to enable us to create a functional minimum viable product within the given timeframe. Below is the high-level project timeline of Hotspotter that was defined on the first night of the hackathon to serve as a guide for the team throughout the next two days of the hackathon.

Problem

<aside> 📌

The current state of finding a pop-up clinic to get the COVID-19 vaccine involved tedious research across extremely information-dense government websites online.

The following is the journey for Carlos, an individual living in an Ontario hotspot who is looking to get the vaccine.

Because of the sheer volume of information and number of sites users like Carlos must go through to conduct this research to get the COVID-19 vaccine, the current process is extremely frustrating.

Solution

Hotspotter, a centralized platform for vaccine seekers living in Ontario hotspots was created to address the challenges in determining vaccine eligibility, receiving updated information from local municipalities, and locating a pop-up clinic to get the vaccine.
